Week 4A

In my study I chose set one.

Econobum seems to try to target masculine members of the family like dads. It focuses on the practicability of the diaper, and how easily it can be put on or put off. While in Just Cheap Diapers they try to focus on just the price of the diapers. Talking about buying on bulk as it's cheaper on the long run, and still having quality on their diapers. Just Cheap Diapers seems to be targeting more low-income family that their biggest worry is to save some money.

Obviously both websites do have some crossovers in customers. Both customers have newborns or babies in the house, and need diapers to be sold to them. Ultimately the goal of both websites is to sell some diapers. The story or idea that each websites uses to sell diapers is what makes them different. We can even see some similarities in the website. Both websites have pictures of babies somewhere in them, Both websites use really soft colors like white, and both try to keep it simple and friendly.

Week 3B

http://www.versace.com/us/en-us/home/

I have a thing for high fashion, and enjoy just looking at the new stock they bring, and the new fashion shows. By far my favorite website to look at it's Versace. Right away it captures you as you click on the site. It has big advertising on the home page, and you can view their latest fashion shows which makes for a great first impression on the website. The color scheme goes great with the Versace brand. Navigation is also great, and has plenty of sub-categories to filter most o the stuff you might not care for, but still show you stuff that you might not have known about. When something is out of stock you can put in our email to be alerted when it will be back on stock. I just used this feature for one of their watches today. The website easily provides customer service as on the top right there's a store locator tab, phone line tab and a "my account" tab on all pages. It's a great website, and I do prefer it a lot more than many other high fashion websites such as Gucci.

What might bother me the most on this website is that gray bar on the top that I just praised for being great as a customer service tool. I love the idea of it, but I hate their execution of making it gray. Maybe they did so that it stands out from the website and easily accessible. Another thing I believe could be improved is the length of the home page, I feel it's too long to scroll down, and should be shortened a bit. Also once you get at the very button you might not notice at the bottom right the "Help and Information tab" which pulls up the about us page  and more. I don't like how easily the bottom right tab could be missed, and I'm a big fan of making sure the about us section, career, history, and that sort of things to be easily visible. Most website could be helped with a little tweaking, but most of the time it comes down to the creator's taste.

http://www.calcionapoli24.it/

This website I go on to follow my favorite soccer team from Italy. It's all in Italian so directed to a specific group of people. The website does very well at covering news, and updates from such soccer team. It's a great tool for fans to stay up to date. It has the main story of the day right as you click on it, and on the right has the top 5 for the day, and has a tab where it shows the standings of all teams. It's easily navigable, and the color scheme goes well with the colors of the team. It has a lot of content which is great, and keeps fans going back to it since it's so constantly updated 24/7.

This website to me has one very big flaw which is way too many ads everywhere. I understand they try to make money on the website to keep it up and running, and pay everyone who works there, but I feel like the ads are way too much. The website even opens up another tab which is an ad every time you click on one of the link to navigate the website. It's annoying more than anything in my opinion. It shows bad ethics, and make it seem like they care more about the money than their fans. Companies, and website probably do care more about the money, but at least try to show that you care about your customer base. Also their contact us page is quiet lacking which might not be so big of a problem for a news website, but still should be a part of it in my opinion. All in all this website is great for news, and keeping up with the team, but as a website, and who runs it still has a lot to reach it's potential.

Week 3A

http://tectorch.com

I feel that there were a lot of things that could be done a lot better on this website. First of all everything was positioned to the left which is kinda of strange just to begin with. The layout is kinda confusing, everything just seems to be there without much thinking done to placements of items. There're no prices, and I'm not sure where you can buy them online? I'm not exactly sure if this website is supposed to promote or sell honestly. There's no about us page or terms of service page which helps a lot on the credibility of a business. The products should be separated better as mentioned prior so a consumer is not so confused..  They can benefit a lot from making a new and better website.

http://spotmetering.com

First thing I see done wrong on the website is the top header I find it plane ugly, and also the sides don't seem well done with all the 0s and 1s. Plus it doesn't go well with what the website is trying to sell. It has a few grammatical errors such as commas where they shouldn't be. The paragraphs explaining about the different techniques of shooting are too bulky, and I'm not sure if it's the font or layout, but not enjoyable to read at all to me which is a big turn off for a potential customer.. There's some ups on this website, and it's okay but not good.

http://www.toyota.com

First thing that happened when I clicked on the website a "Find a dealership" tab opened up which I believe it's a good addition because probably one of the biggest reasons people click on their website is to go find a dealership. I'm sure they've done their research, and decided to add this feature for this very reason. This website is easily navigable, it carries all features the company represents and it's colors. The website is sharp, clean, and well-organized which helps on giving a good image to the company that owns it, and makes the buyer trust in it.

http://apple.com

I honestly believe Apple has the best website I've ever seen in a company. I'm not sure how they could make it better to be honest. A live support could maybe be beneficial. Promotions, discounts or giveaway events could also help if featured on the website or event social media contests, and give out products to the winners. As expected their website is amazing.

I believe Apple's website is so good it's because it's so simple, but at the same time elegant. It has all features right there in the front. It features the greatest, and latest product on the home page. It has videos of conferences apple had or ads they made. The videos of course are all done perfectly. I believe all websites can learn a thing or two from looking at Apple's.

Week 2B

Nike

Twitter Sep. 1, Instagram Sep. 12, FaceBook Sep. 4

Stance
https://www.stance.com/?
Instagram 9/18, Facebook 9/16, Twitter 9/18, Pinterest 9/5

Palomar Health

No Social Media

Askinosie Chocolate

Instagram 9/15, Facebook 9/12, Twitter 9/16

Cisco

Twitter 9/12, LinkedIn 9/8, Facebook 9/7

Interestingly enough I found out that many big business don't use social media as much as smaller ones. Even if they're in the same industry (Stance and Nike) Stance was a lot more active on all social media than Nike. Partially it might be due to the fact that a bigger company is much more established, and doesn't need as much social media activity to convert sales. Another reason could be that bigger companies might have different accounts each specified for something like different sports in the case of Nike. Regardless smaller companies I believe would benefit more from using social media more often as publicity to spread their brand.

I happen to work at Palomar Health which are a healthcare company. Going on their websites they had no social media up. I would've imagined that posting amazing success stories of people surviving in their hospitals is something that would benefit the credibility of it obviously asking permission to the patient first if they were okay with the hospital sharing information on the internet. In our modern days I feel like that almost all companies should use social media, and rarely it would damage a brand more than it would benefit it. Even showing appreciation to their employees through social media is something that modern companies should consider.

Looking through all the companies' social media I saw a pattern. All the social media platforms were used for the same things. Instagram for promoting products, Twitter for customer service, and communicating with the customers, and Facebook for fan pages. I'm only including this three because they were the only three that were on every single company's page. This goes to show that different social media platforms have different objectives in branding for a business. It shows the need for a company to be using as many social medias as they can to hit different markets.

Week 2A

Yes, I've had bad experiences trying to communicate to companies using social media. So I lost this item that came with something I bought from Activision. This particular item can't be bought online, and the only place that Activision's customer support told me to get it from was from tweeting to their Twitter support page. I tried numerous times to tweet at them, and get some help, but all in vain.

I believe that social media does make it easier to be recognized by a company. Before the internet, and social media I believe it was almost impossible to easily communicate with companies. Today we might still have problems communicating, but I believe social media makes it a lot easier.

I've never had to talk to a company using social media other than the Activision incident so I can not say I've had a positive experience talking to a company using social media. Although I'm sure that companies actively talk to their customers using social media just from what I can see from an outside perspective.

If I ran a business I would obviously have a team that worked the social media sector. We would want to support positive comments to show that we have very satisfied customers. Negative comments should be addressed by trying to understand what happened to that customer from having a bad experience, and try to fix the problem.

Week 1B

Personally I find the best personal social media to use is Facebook. It let's you do a lot more than many other social medias. You can upload almost anything, post anything on your mind be part of groups  and events. Also to play games. I know it has lost some popularity especially in the younger crowd, but I feel like older people favor it a lot more than other social medias like Instagram and Twitter.

Twitter on the other hand seems to be more favorable for business, and people with social influence. Posting anything is easily to be spread through the Twitter web being able to re-tweet a feature that not many other social media platforms feature. It's easy to communicate with your community, and announce anything you desire.

Week 1A

Hello class,

I chose this template because I love simple templates. I believe keeping it simple, but still interesting is the best way to capture a viewer attention, and not scaring him off with too many pictures and such everywhere.
My favorite color is black which helped with the selection of this template. I understand that my Blog's name is Blue Square Co, but the blog is black. I thought of the name to be generic so that I can post about anything without being locked in one subject it wasn't to match the blog's template.
